Markets
Most label tools charge per market or per module. FoodFormulary includes all five, from the Solo plan up.
Market screening
Reformulating after development is the expensive way to discover that a claim fails in one market or a front-of-package symbol is triggered in another. FoodFormulary screens the formula as you build it, so you can adjust ingredients while changes are still cheap.
| Check | Canada | United States | UK & EU | Australia/NZ |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Strongest fibre claim | Qualifies "Source of fibre"3 g per serving meets 2 g. "High source" needs 4 g. |
Qualifies "Good source of fiber"11% DV is within 10–19%. |
Qualifies "High fibre"7.5 g per 100 g meets 6 g. |
Adjust wording "Source of dietary fibre""Good source" needs 4 g per serving. This formula has 3 g. |
| Front-of-package | Symbol required "High in Sugars"15 g sugars = 15% DV, at the threshold. |
Not required | Voluntary | Voluntary Health Star Rating |
| Sugars declaration | Total sugars with %DVDaily Value 100 g. |
Added sugars line 12 g, 24% DVRequires added-sugar data per ingredient. |
Total sugars "of which sugars" |
Total sugars |
| Carbohydrate basis | 27 g totalIncludes 3 g fibre. | 27 g totalIncludes 3 g fibre. | 24 g availableFibre declared separately. | 24 g availableFibre declared because a fibre claim is made. |
| Energy basis | 180 CaloriesPer serving. | 180 CaloriesPer serving. | 1805 kJ / 430 kcalPer 100 g, EU factors with fibre at 8 kJ/g. | 722 kJ per serving1810 kJ per 100 g, to 3 significant figures. |
Change an ingredient and every market updates together. Drop 1 g of sugar and the Canadian symbol goes away; add 1 g of fibre and the Australian "good source" claim becomes available.
Features
Formulation, ingredient data, claims, costing and labelling in one record, so nothing gets re-keyed between tools.
Formulate
See each raw material's nutrient profile as you add it, and watch the finished formula update in real time.
Check claims, front-of-package triggers and declaration requirements for all five markets before you commit to development.
Find raw materials by nutrient profile, such as high fibre or low sodium, not just by name.
Cost per batch, per unit and per serving, calculated alongside nutrition so you can balance targets in one place.
Ingredient data
USDA FoodData Central, the Canadian Nutrient File, UK CoFID and FSANZ food composition data, harmonized into one searchable library.
Import supplier specifications straight into your ingredient records instead of retyping them.
Store your own ingredients and supplier data next to the official databases. Only your account can see them.
Keep formulas organized by project or by client, with your recipes never shared or pooled.
Labels & claims
Every format generated from the same formula.
Canada's mandatory "High in" symbol for saturated fat, sugars and sodium, with thresholds checked against the correct reference amount.
See which claims a formula qualifies for in each market, and how far it is from the next level.
Generated from the formula in each market's order and naming conventions, so the label always matches the recipe.
Accuracy
One master nutrient record. Each market's energy factors, rounding rules, units and reference amounts are applied when the label is generated.
Calculations use exact decimal math throughout, so floating-point errors never creep into declared values.
Export
PDF and SVG vector files with outlined fonts, plus high-resolution PNG. Exported at true size so regulated type sizes stay intact.
Copy-ready ingredient and allergen statements for your designer, and nutrient values as CSV for spec sheets.
Compare
Today, the market splits into single-market label makers and enterprise R&D suites. Multi-market coverage is usually what pushes buyers from one to the other.

Who built it
Built by food scientists and regulatory consultants with more than 25 years of experience.
FoodFormulary comes from FTC International Consulting, a Canadian food regulatory firm founded in 1999. The firm reviews labels, builds Preventive Control Plans and advises manufacturers, importers and distributors on CFIA, FDA and SFCR compliance across Canada and the United States.
The most common and most expensive problem in that work is a formula that was finished before anyone checked it against the markets it would be sold in. FoodFormulary moves that check to the start of development.
Pricing
Plans differ by seats, workflow and support. Every plan includes all five markets and every label format. Prices in US dollars; Canadian prices shown for annual plans.

FAQ
Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, the European Union and Australia/New Zealand. Formats include the Canadian Nutrition Facts Table, Supplemented Food Facts table and front-of-package nutrition symbol, the US Nutrition Facts and Supplement Facts labels, UK and EU nutrition declarations, and the FSANZ Nutrition Information Panel. All five markets are included on every plan.
As you build a formula, FoodFormulary checks it against each target market: which nutrient content claims it qualifies for, whether a front-of-package symbol is triggered, and what each declaration requires. You find out a formula won't work in a market before you've invested in pilot batches and testing.
FoodFormulary uses official government food composition databases: USDA FoodData Central, the Canadian Nutrient File, the UK Composition of Foods Integrated Dataset (CoFID) and FSANZ data. You can add your own raw materials and supplier specifications, including by scanning a PDF spec sheet.
Yes. Your raw materials, supplier data and formulations are stored privately in your account and are never shared with other users or pooled into the public library.
FoodFormulary generates labels and checks them against each market's rules, but the manufacturer remains responsible for what goes on the package. If you'd like a second set of eyes, FTC International's regulatory consultants offer an expert label review for US$150 per SKU on any plan.
PDF and SVG vector files with outlined fonts for your printer and package designer, and high-resolution PNG for sell sheets and online listings. Labels export at true size. You can also copy ingredient and allergen statements as text and download nutrient values as CSV.
No. FoodFormulary is invitation-only while we onboard our first customers, and requesting an invitation doesn't need a credit card.
Most of the software in this category is priced in US dollars, which makes comparison easier. Canadian prices are shown for annual plans and are rounded rather than tied to the exchange rate.
